Who we are
jobroles.io operates the job-discovery service at jobroles.io and is the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact for anything privacy-related: support@jobroles.io.
What we collect, and why
Account data (your email address and name) so you can sign in and we can reach you about your account (legal basis: performing our contract with you). Usage data (the searches and filters you run and basic device information) so the product works and we can improve it (legal basis: our legitimate interest in running and improving the service). Payment status, which is handled entirely by Paddle, our merchant of record; we never see or store your card details, only whether your plan is active. We don't collect more than this, and we don't use your data for automated decisions that significantly affect you.
What we don't do
We don't sell or rent your personal data, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or send marketing email you didn't ask for. In the terms of the California Consumer Privacy Act: we do not sell or share your personal information. Job listings in the feed are collected from public employer career pages and contain no personal data about you.
Cookies
We use only cookies that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in, which is why you don't see a cookie banner. If we ever add analytics, it will be privacy-respecting, cookieless aggregate measurement, and this policy will say so first.
Where your data lives
Your data is processed by our infrastructure providers (Convex for the database, Clerk for sign-in, Vercel for hosting, Paddle for payments, and Zoho for email), primarily in the United States. Where data moves across borders from the EU, UK, or other regions with transfer rules, it travels under recognized safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which our providers maintain. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account exists and deleted within 30 days of account deletion, except records we must keep for tax or legal reasons (which Paddle holds as merchant of record). Usage data is kept in identifiable form no longer than 24 months.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, object to or restrict our processing of it, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Email support@jobroles.io and we'll respond within 30 days, without charging you and without discriminating against you for asking. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data-protection authority; we'd appreciate the chance to resolve it with you first.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in any material way, we'll update the date above and notify you by email or on the site before the change takes effect.
